Advancing Health Disparities Research

Join us in Nashville, Tennessee · November 8 – 9, 2018
MeTRC 2018 Conference

Meharry Translational Research Center (MeTRC), along with its partners, will host a one and one-half day conference addressing health disparities and translational research to convene November 8 – 9, 2018 on the campus of Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. The conference, titled Addressing Health Disparities: The Role of Translational Research, will focus on the regional impact of disparities research in cancer, infectious diseases including HIV/AIDS, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and neurological disorders in the clinical, basic science, and population health areas. The conference features poster presentations, plenary sessions, and concurrent sessions to include oral presentations around the key translational research areas.

Travel Awards are available, on a competitive basis, to a select few of the MeTRC 2018 Health Disparities Conference Abstract Presenters through a U54 grant. The Travel Award is meant to subsidize each awardee's attendance at the MeTRC Conference.

XULA 2019 Conference

The Center for Minority Health and Health Disparities, Research and Education at Xavier University of Louisiana College of Pharmacy will host its 12th Health Disparities Conference April 8–10, 2019 in New Orleans, Louisiana.  The 2019 Conference, titled Linking Downstream Determinants to Upstream Interventions — Targeting Health Disparities & Health Equity, will focus on the complex pathways that link social determinants and the inclusion of disadvantage, life course and health equity approaches that mitigate these effects. Activities during the conference will include:

  • Health Equity Award Opportunities
  • Meritorious Podium Presentations
  • Networking Poster Sessions
  • Specialized Breakout Sessions
  • Student Presenter Award Opportunities
